Policies

Our policies are designed to ensure a positive, safe, and enriching experience for every performer. By adhering to these guidelines, we aim to create an environment where all students can thrive, grow, and achieve their full potential. Please take a moment to review our policies, which cover important aspects such as class placement, attire, and payment information.

 

Your cooperation helps us maintain the high standards and supportive atmosphere that define our studio. Thank you for being a valued member of our community.

Tuition 

Classes start in September and run through June.  For monthly payment plans, the tuition is due the first day of each month and must be paid by the 7th to avoid late fees. An additional $10.00 will be charged for tuition that is paid after this date. Tuition may be paid in annual or semi annual payments to prevent any late fees or students may pay by the class.

Payment can be made by cash or check. Checks are only accepted when the check writers social security number is provided. A $35.00 ISF fee will be charged for each return check. Please make checks payable to 3-Arts.Please be sure the student's name is noted on checks.

Accounts must be paid by full before the recital or the student will not be allowed to participate. If a payment is 30 days past due, students will not be allowed to participate in class. They may only observe until the balance is paid. If the payment is 60 days past due, students may lose their place in class. 

Registration

Registration is a $30.00 non-refundable fee. For monthly payment plans, first and last month payments are due at registration. 

Missed Classes

Absences during the year should be kept to a minimal. No classes should be missed the last month before the recital. All tuition is non-refundable for missed classes. In most cases make-up classes are available.  Extra rehearsal classes are available near the time of recital and are included in the cost of tuition. 

Dropping Classes

In the event a student has the need to drop a class during the session, verbal or written notice must be given to the director or account manager before the 10th of the prior month. If notice is give before the 10th of the prior month and by an adult, parent or guardian and the account is on a monthly payment plan the account will not be charge for the next month. 

If the account is annual or semi-annual there are no refunds for tuition. However in some cases an account credit may be given for up to one year. There are no refunds for costume deposits, costumes, recital fees, recital tickets, t-shirts recital DVD’s or pictures.

Attire

Proper attire and shoes must be worn during class. There can be no loose jewelry and long hair should be off the neck.

Girls should wear a black leotard and pink tights. Leotards with skirts are allowed. Once a dancer is over the age of 10 they may wear alternate colors of tights. They may also wear a leotard with shorts and tights. 

Boys can wear shorts or sweats and a tight fitted shirt. 

Approved Footwear:

  • Black tap shoes (Pre-dance, Beginner to Advanced Beginner)

  • Tan tap shoes with heel (JR, INT, SR & Adult)

  • Pink ballet shoes split sole only from a JR level up

  • Black ballet shoes (for boys)

  • Tan Capezio Boot (JR, INT & SR Lyrical)

  • Black jazz shoes

  • Black jazz sneaker (hip-hop only)

  • White gymnastic shoes

  • Pointe shoes of student’s choice

  • Instructor approval for fit of pointe shoes needed

Student Behavior

  • Students should be dressed and ready for class when they arrive. 

  • Students should not arrive more than 5 minutes before class. 

  • Students are not allowed to wear street shoes on the dance floor

  • Students should not bring food or beverages.

  • Students are not allowed to chew gum.

  • Students are expected to be respectful and courteous to other students and the teachers in the class. 

Parent Observation

We do not allow parents or friends to observe weekly classes. Students focus better when there is not the distraction of an outside person. We do typically host a parents observation session once a year so parents can see what their student is learning. Information about that session will be sent home with the student. 

Media Use

New York Rhythm Dance Academy reserves the right to use all pictures taken of students in class, in the studio, in performance and during recital season on the studio website, in brochures and in advertisements.

Disclaimers

When students are participating in class or performing with New York Rhythm Dance Academy, all regulations established by us must be followed or the student will not be allowed to participate.

If during the season a problem should arise, please call before or after classes. We cannot stop or delay the teaching of classes during the afternoon or evening hours. 

NY Rhythm Dance Academy and staff are not responsible for any injuries sustained while in the studio, on the premises and at or during any performances. All students must be covered by their own family insurance policy.

Please do not leave valuables in the studio unattended. The studio is not responsible for articles that are lost or stolen.
